Google celebrates Royal Wedding with a new doodle

The search engine giant Google replaced its usual logo with a new doodle today, to mark the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The doodle shows a gold and red horse-drawn carriage carrying the newly-weds  from the Westminster Abbey through the streets of London.

This is the first doodle honouring a wedding. Clicking on the image takes you to the 196 million search results for “royal wedding”. The top entry is for a live screening of the ceremony at the Everyman Cinema in Belsize Park.

Google merged the brand name ‘Google’ into the London street scene, strategically placing buildings and bridges – the Westminster Abbey, a princess’s castle and the London Eye in the background amidst a shower of  colourful confetti. royal wedding google doodle 29.11.2011 Google celebrates Royal Wedding with a new doodle

The specialty of the Royal Wedding doodle is that it appeared globally corresponding to the wedding time in London.

Doodles are known as the decorative changes that are made to the Google logo since 1998 to celebrate important dates in the world history.
