The Salt Grotto – A Unique Sanctuary

I always wished there was a way to escape the polluted London’s air – without actually having to leave the town. So when I came across Salt Cave Therapy it naturally triggered my curiousity.

The Salt Grotto, created inside the Adalex Clinic in West London is a truly amazing experience. With numerous health benefits that range from improving various respiratory alignments, allergies, skin disorders, to increasing general wellbeing and strengthening the immune system – this specific antibacterial microclimatic refuge, so characteristic of deep salt mines, comes close to a real miracle.

As soon as I entered I felt immersed in the cool and incredibly fresh air (with an air quality that is ten times higher than outside), while a bed of crisp white salt (transported here from the world renowned Wieliczka Salt Mine ) was sparkling like precious gemstones under my feet.

The walls, covered entirely with Himalayan sea salt, glowed beautifully lit by the lights set behind, which made the soft pink salt look almost entirely translucent. I was incredibly tempted to touch the crystals but managed to contain myself. The ceiling has been decorated to resemble the inside of an ice cave with lights, which were gently changing colours, filling the cave with iridescent shine.

saltgrotto2 The Salt Grotto – A Unique Sanctuary I lied down on one of the reclining chairs and cuddled up with a warm and fluffy blanket. While listening to the sounds of soothing music I gradually started to relax and drift away from the worries and stresses of the daily life.

The Salt Grotto is equipped with an Evaporation tower which has been made of timber. Inside, there is a special water from the Zablocka Salt Brine (Poland), which flows down over birch twigs and forms a fine mist which is spreading into the Grotto.

I was told that the air in the Grotto is filled with negative ions as well as micro-elements – all exceedingly beneficial for the health.

After taking in a few very deep inhalations the air started feeling so perfectly natural and I was astonished that I could barely taste the salt. I left feeling energized and ready to face the life’s new challenges, already planning in thoughts my next visit to that miraculous place.
