About the Photographer
Toufic Araman, photographer based in Dubai, travels constantly on assignments to Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi, Lebanon and Egypt.
A trained painter and award winning photographer, Toufic Araman spends his time between Dubai, Beirut and Cairo. He does advertising and conceptual photography. He has displayed his talent through major advertising campaigns. His conceptual work was shown at the Noorderlicht Festival, The Netherlands, Art Fair Dubai, UAE, Melbourne Photo Finish, Australia and Brecht Forum, New York.
Araman’s work is distinguished by his propensity for story-telling, lighting which plays a character and images that often have a sense of humor. He studied at the International Center of Photography (ICP) and School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York. He is a member of the advisory board of the communication department at The American University in Dubai.
The use of shadow on the photos is powerful and effective. Although photographers sometimes spoil the object by trying the special effects, Araman is handling the tactics well
I agree with that, but let’s see if the shadow effect would work on the clothes with bright colours like red or yellow. It’s a bit challenging
