Even successful, healthy, bright, intelligent people go through challenging times in their lives. ‘Interactive hypnotherapy’ enables people who may be experiencing out-of-order emotions and behaviours to discover what might be the root cause of their problem whether it be anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia or anything similar.
Blushing, stammering, anxiety disorders, weight loss and eating disorders, insomnia, stress, a seeming lack of confidence, depression and fears of all kind – whatever issue needs to be tackled this form of hypnotherapy can help to instil transformative change. The important thing is that you are always in control. You get to choose the words or phrases that best reflect your experience of yourself and then you get to choose the words and phrases that express how you want to be.
These opportunities to participate in the therapeutic process illustrate the driving force you have within. And even if you are not quite sure of what you really want, but have a sense that how you feel is not quite ‘right’, participative hypnotherapy can be the best form of personal coaching you can choose to invest in.
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring and a very natural state. If you have experienced the relaxation at the end of a yoga class then you have already experienced a state of light hypnosis. The pose of repose (also known as the ‘death pose’) guides you into a relaxed state, which in hypnotherapeutic language would be called a ‘progressive induction’. This means an induction that relaxes you from the top of your head to the tips of your toes and fingers. Even the repetitive actions experienced when one has a facial or a manicure can induce a mild altered state. Similarly the feeling of being gripped by a good novel also induces an altered and heightened state so it is more than likely that you already have experienced this pleasurable state of being!
I often say to my clients that, as a therapist, I am a facilitator – a cheerleader, a partner in their dance or a player on their team. I sense the drivers in them that I need to activate along the journey and I co-create the choreography as the session progresses. But it is the client who creates the music and the song. It is the client’s wisdom that provides the content. It is the client’s words that heal. It is the wisdom that is within their inner selves that brings the clarity and the understanding. Always remember that you are the composer and the arranger of your life’s song and dance. Interactive hypnotherapy positions you to be in a state of relaxation to take hold of the creative reins and steer a fresh course.
I often get asked by potential clients “Does hypnotherapy really work?” My response is always the same – “There wouldn’t be much job satisfaction for me if it didn’t” followed by, “The procedure of hypnosis would be fraudulent if it was not efficacious.” Quality is of primary concern for the profession, both quality of practitioner and of procedure and process.
The adage that there’s nothing new under the sun is particularly pertinent at this point. ‘Whole-Being Interactive Hypnotherapy’ has evolved over almost two decades of professional work. This practice respects and embraces the wisdom that we all carry within ourselves and our capacity for change. The creation of what I like to call our ‘inner team’ and the notion of ‘building an inner team’ to facilitate the continuation of our ‘inner life-coaching’, have also evolved and grown over time.
I have found that with the majority of clients interactive hypnotherapy effects its changes successfully and permanently within just three to five sessions.
Some sessions, of course, do require more negotiation, more persuasion, and more choreography than others. The interactive, and therapeutic dance between you as the client and me as therapist, is always in motion.
There are sequences or chapters in the process. Within each chapter there are paragraphs comprising sequences of sentences or steps: Sentences that question; sentences that explore the feelings and experiences ‘between the lines’; sentences that prompt; sentences that encourage; sentences that negotiate; sentences that guide and sentences that lead; sentences that inspire; sentences that get repeated again and again and even sentences that celebrate.
Some sentences stay in every dance. Some come and others go – to re-emerge in another dance. Your vocabulary leads the dance, and the sequences of sentence steps that accompany the dance will more readily keep you in rhythm and in tune with yourself and your happiness.
Increasingly, clients come to interactive hypnotherapy while actively participating in other therapeutic paths like psychotherapy or counselling sessions. Interactive hypnotherapy can help fast-track the process and therefore clients choose to participate in a series of sessions of interactive hypnotherapy, alongside other therapies.
A session of interactive hypnotherapy can help you to go directly to the ‘track on your inner CD’ and so gain more immediate access to the event, the situation or the circumstance, when a feeling, a pattern of behaviour, or a thought form, first took up residence within your inner mind. Such clarity and understanding can bring immediate feelings of ‘lightening’, ‘enlightenment’ and ‘freedom’.
Interactive hypnotherapy is a complementary player in the psychotherapeutic arena and one that can effectively illumine, empower, and liberate in a relatively short period of time. Come and join the dance.
