Surrounded by the splendour of the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, the Gilbert’s Gin Garden is a new wonderful addition to The Gilbert Scott bar. Unveiled on the 26th of June 2013 by Marcus Wareing and Chantelle Nicholson of The Gilbert Scott, the terrace is a beautifully designed and relaxing space where friends, family and locals can congregate to imbibe and indulge.
Created in collaboration with the curious minds at Hendrick’s Gin, Gilbert’s Gin Garden offers a most unusual setting in which to enjoy botanically-themed Gin cocktails and other tipples in a traditional country garden context tucked amongst the famous vaulted archways of the Gilbert Scott. Hendrick’s Gin is a deliciously super premium gin, made with a number of unusual twists to deliver a most curious arrangement. Unlike ordinary gins, Hendrick’s Gin is distilled in Scotland, in miniscule batches of only 450 litres at a time.
The Garden offers a variety of exquisite drinks, including Hendrick’s “Tea Time” tipples, which have been designed especially to be enjoyed with The Gilbert Scott’s traditional Afternoon Tea. The Delicate Rose Cocktail combines Hendrick’s gin with rose petal tea, pink grapefruit, elderflower and cucumber for a particularly refreshing tipple, whilst Lady’s Grey mixes Hendrick’s Gin with bergamot, Lady Grey Tea and bitter lemon fizz for a delicious citrus flavour.
Visitors to the garden can indulge in The Gilbert Scott’s full Brunch Menu which offers a range of tasty dishes, from the hearty Dorset crab ‘Benedict’ and The George (eggs, bacon, black pudding, homemade beans, bubble and squeak, toast) to lighter options such as buttermilk crumpets with golden syrup butter – all created by The Gilbert Scott’s skilled team of chefs and available from 11am weekdays, 10am on weekends.
In addition, Gilbert’s Guests can treat themselves to the Bar Bites menu whilst sipping on bottled cocktails (such as Summer Thyme or the bottled Negroni); available from 12pm daily; the Bar Menu features delectable nibbles including Smoked Mackerel Pâté, Corned Beef Hash Bites (with HP gravy) and Barbecue Chicken Skewers with minted yogurt.
For a sweet treat, Cocktail Floats will be available such as the Midland Iced Tea Float (Hendrick’s Gin, dark rum, triple sec cola syrup, charged with fizz and floated over salt caramel ice cream), or re-discover their inner child with one of The Gilbert Scott’s signature choc-ices (Kendal mint cake, Peanut butter or Dandelion and Burdock).
Gilbert’s Gin Garden is a unique area to enjoy a respite from the city bustle, a place to indulge in some British eccentricity while the world rushes by, all under the grand visage of the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
Preserving the glamour of the old station and the romance of rail travel during the 1800s, the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London maintains its elegance and charm by offering global travellers a gateway to London in the form of one of the city’s greatest landmarks.
