A series of events scheduled for January and February is concentrating on this most British of foods, and offering oodles of opportunity to learn the secrets of masterful marmalade making and tasting. The celebration culminates in the judging of the competition entrants and the crowning of the winners. Once again, the supreme champion will have their recipe recreated by the Fortnum’s chefs, and sold in the store. Please see below for a full list of the exciting events being held at Piccadilly.
Marmalade Dreams: Get in the Mood for National Marmalade Week

Join us for the first in our Marvellous Marmalade season of events. This workshop – in the Demonstration Kitchen, First Floor – concentrates on making marvellous marmalade with Jane Hasell-McCosh, founder of the World Original Marmalade Competition and Festival and Jane Maggs from Wild & Fruitful. They will demonstrate the art and craft of marmalade making, in plenty of time for you to enter the competition. If you win, Fortnum’s chefs will make your marmalade and sell it in the store. Now that’s a sweet prize. If you would rather taste than make, you will have the opportunity to try Fortnum’s very own – and highly delicious – orange and whisky marmalade.
Magnificent Marmalade with a Master of the Art

The second in our series of marmalade inspired demonstrations. Our magician of the marmalades gives a master class in the art and craft of making marmalade. It will inspire you to get out the preserve pan and enter one or more of the medley of categories in next month’s World Marmalade Competition.

Marvellous! It’s National Marmalade Week

It’s the SEVENTH Annual World’s Original Marmalade Awards & Festival, founded by Dalemain Mansion in Cumbria, and co-hosted with Fortnum & Mason. The week is jam-packed with tastings of the winning entries, and with the chance to try Fortnum’s own very fine marmalades. Categories include family, commercial producers, novices and heritage – for those really ancient family recipes written on parchment-coloured paper. There’s a category for families, and one for mums, so there’s no excuse not to have a go – and you never know. It’s the Toast of the Town.
