Review of Eat Right for your Personality Type

Having previously attended a live raw food workshop by Karen Knowler, I settled down to read her book in hope of gleaning new advice. I have been struggling with completely transforming my diet in the way I would like, despite considerable dedication, label reading, sacrifices and much more. Somehow, I would manage to lose some weight, only to have some treats, and put it all back on again. I was aware something was not working and if only to become consciously aware of why. As I responded to the various questionnaires within the book, I became increasingly aware of the problem. There are ten eating types, according to Karen. I identified myself as a conscious eater, at least for my main eating type. I have partaken of a strict vegetarian since 1995, and have been transitioning to veganism for some time, monitoring how healthily I feel, and vacillating accordingly. Sometimes I am an experimental eater, as I love to try new recipes, time pending, all within the scope of what I deem as healthy, as if it is not healthy it does not interest me to invest my time and energy into purchasing expensive ingredients, or the time preparing various delicious cuisine. Of course, as for many, there are times when I feel like comfort eating, but as I read through the many examples provided by Karen , I realized that can occur when one feels restricted within ones eating pattern. On some level I knew this, but it manifested more as frustration and a need to talk over where I am going with my new ideal diet, the struggle to achieve my ideal dietary goals. I have emerged with the

knowledge that I need time and patience for preparing food that tastes fabulous, as I do not truly desire to consume unhealthy food. I just desire to enjoy very healthy tasty meals! Finally, I am no longer perpetuating negative eating cycles. I can step out and step up to a complete radical diet change.

Due to the busy lives we lead, we often reach for quick fixes to our natural desire to explore through the sense of taste, or perhaps to raise our energy levels, which, when left unexamined, may become a poor dietary habit. Exploration of the desire to satiate through a balancing the five tastes of sweet, salty, sour, bitter and pungent may assist this process. You may also explore dietary deficiencies and allergies to rebalance your body,  move beyond addictions to sugar, unhealthy fats and any habit that prevents you experiencing optimum vitality.

Karen Knowler has profound enthusiasm that is also entirely grounded and earthy, that allows you to move forward into the desired shift you were seeking. This happened for me regarding raw food. I had first heard of raw food in 1998, prior to attending her live workshop in 2006. Karen has a unique ability to show you the myriad of options, enabling you to expand your perspective beyond previously held limitations. I honestly thought I may be limited for some time within the negative repetitive cycle I was in, and suddenly I am free forever due to the knowledge shared within Karen’s new book. You can look forward to reading about every aspect each eating type.
