Harrods based eyebrow expert Shavata Sing is sharing her secrets with Semperey readers.
Shavata, who has been working in the industry for more than 26 years, is managing a network of Brow Studios across the UK. She is passionate about her art and claims that eyebrows define one’s eyes in the same way as a good frame enhances a painting. Shavata’s brow shaping can work miracles, producing visual effects close to a mini face-lift in just 15 minutes.
“ There might be this beautiful painting in an art gallery but if it is ill-framed it might still be beautiful but it just won’t do it justice – it’s the same with eyes”.

Here are some Shavata’s tips on how to achieve beautiful brows:
Make the most of what you have
The secret to beautiful brows is not to go too much against nature. If your brows are naturally thick do not try to make them too thin. Big and bold eyebrows have been spotted all over the catwalk this season.
Patience is a virtue
No two eyebrows are the same and trying to get them looking exactly alike often results in over-plucking. Eyebrows are sisters not twins. Slightly pull your eyebrow taut and pluck a few hairs in the direction of hair growth on one eyebrow, then the other and continue the same way.
Regular Maintenance
It is recommended to have a professional shape at least once a year as well as regular maintenance. It is sometimes easier to tend to brows on a daily basis and to pluck hair whilst it is still short instead of leaving it too long –in which case you might have lost the shape and you will then need to go to a professional again.
Tools of the trade
Using a combination of wax, threading, tweezing and trimming can get you the perfect shape. However if you are not confident invest in a pair of good-quality slanted tweezers as they are the easiest tool to use to achieve a professional finish.
Watch out
Eyebrows start before the eyes and not after. Follow the natural curve of your brow and keep them even. Tadpole eyes are not a good look!
