Within Christinanity the egg symbolises the ascension of Christ, the transcendence of the limitiations of death, unto a new life. More specifically, the egg represents the boulder of the tomb of Jesus. Whilst touring Israel, I located ‘The Garden Tomb”, a peaceful and beautiful garden in Jerusalem, that reminded me of The Chalice Well Gardens in England. The site was first discovered in 1867, and you can clearly see the ‘Gordon’s Calvary’ the shape of the skull at the cliffside.
