Guildford clinic, Absolute Aesthetics hosted a special open evening to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care on Wednesday 6 March at their headquarters in Guildford.
The free event was warmly introduced by award-winning cosmetic journalist, Vicky Eldridge who
spoke about concerns over regulations in the cosmetic industry in the wake of the PIP breast implant scandal, in which up to 50,000 women in Britain were given faulty implants.
Speaking of a review being carried out by Sir Bruce Keogh, medical director of the NHS, Vicky Eldridge said:
“It’s worrying that women will have cosmetic surgery and aesthetics treatments without knowing much about what they are putting into their bodies, or the people who are carrying out the procedures.
Here at Absolute Aesthetics, there are qualified medical practitioners but that’s not always the case and, at the moment, almost anyone can set up a clinic and offer Botox treatments meaning there is no safeguard if something goes wrong. This review will hopefully help regulate who can carry out certain treatments. My advice to anyone wanting to have something done is not to be afraid to ask questions about the product and what experience those carrying out the treatment have.”
There were demonstrations of some of the leading treatments on the market available at Absolute Aesthetics throughout the evening which included showcasing the Advanced Electrolysis technique, which is a minimally invasive and highly effective treatment for the removal of skin lesions. There was also Facial Injectables by Absolute Aesthetics Doctor, Kuldeep Minocha which generated quite a lot of interest as everyone watched the live show.
Among the guests for the evening was the Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Jennifer Jordan. The Mayor congratulated Vicki and her team on establishing Absolute Aesthetics into what is now one of the leading clinics in its field.
She added: “I have known Vicki a long time, having taught her at school and know that the enthusiasm and hard work she put in then has continued to help her set up this wonderful clinic.
The night in support of Breast Cancer Care raised over one thousand pounds for the charity and each guest received a commemorative Swarovski crystal pin, designed by Julien Macdonald.
