Jason Bruges Studio invites you to attend the 21st Century Light Space Modulator Lecture at the RIBA, to celebrate the opening of our new exhibition.
In summer 2012, the studio transformed an under-used public space on London’s South Bank with a landmark art installation commissioned by Concord, the lighting arm of Havells-Sylvania, in partnership with the Southbank Centre.
The lecture will give an in depth insight into the design process and reveal the studio’s approach to the project. The team will describe the response to the site, and the fusion of technology with cultural influences that brought the space to life through interactivity and playfulness, resulting in this interactive Lumino Kinetic art installation.
The 21st Century Light Space Modulator pays homage to the dynamic, theatrical light props created by László Moholy-Nagy at the Bauhaus in 1930. The spectacular results are a series of evolving urban interventions that react instinctively to their location, choreographed by activity and motion from the surrounding environment.
